Injured Rishabh Pant failed to take the field for India on Friday, October 18. Pant was injured on Day 2 of the Bengaluru Test after the ball struck him on his left knee. It was the same area where Pant had his surgery done after his road accident.

Rishabh Pant was unable to take the field and keep wickets on Day 3 of the first Test against New Zealand due to swelling on his right knee, the same one he had surgery on following a car crash. Dhruv Jurel took his place as a precautionary measure.

Rishabh Pant went off the field after getting hit on the knee while keeping wicket on the opening day of the first Test against New Zealand. India captain Rohit Sharma said there was some swelling and the team didn't want to take any risks given Pant had recovered from serious knee injuries sustained during a car crash in December 2022.
