The guideline makes a series of recommendations which are coded as to level of clinical confidence; these are either substantial (I), moderate (II), or on the basis of individual circumstances (III).
As with other medication, the guideline notes that the optimum time period on SSRIs is not known. When the medication is discontinued, the taper should occur over several weeks.
