Top-seeded Qinwen Zheng outlasted wild card Sofia Kenin 7-6 (5), 6-3 to win the final of the Pan Pacific Open on Sunday in Tokyo. Zheng, of China, fired 16 aces to dispatch Kenin in one hour, 52 minutes and claim her third WTA Tour singles title of the year and fifth of her career.

Olympic champion seals place in season-ending WTA Finals, while Kenin – who played with her right thigh strapped – can take many positives.
