Nothing has quite been the same at Utah since quarterback Cameron Rising tore his ACL against Penn State, New Year's Day of 2023. It feels like a lifetime ago, but the Utes were two-time reigning Pac-12 champions and 19-4 in games that Rising started and finished since he earned the starting quarterback job in 2021.

Utes fans wanted to know when star quarterback Cam Rising would make his return after injuring his hand in the team's Week 2 win against Baylor. As we all know or have grown to learn, head coach Kyle Whittingham refuses to give actual injury updates, which is similar to his knee injury last year; it was unknown when or if Rising would return.

The Utes fell for the second straight time, as the Sun Devils outmuscled visiting Utah. Cam Skattebo scored two long touchdown runs in the second half and rushed for 158 yards as Arizona State held off the Utes, who are now 4-2 on the season and 1-2 in Big 12 play.
