Among the thousand plus well-wishers gathered to greet King Charles and Queen Camilla at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra on Monday was Hephner, a nine-year old alpaca in a suit with a crown perched atop his fluffy white head.

King Charles III is ending the first visit to Australia by a reigning British monarch in 13 years with anti-monarchists hoping his journey is a step toward an Australian citizen becoming head of state.

Senator Lidia Thorpe, who is Indigenous, confronted King Charles in Australian parliament and said the monarch "destroyed our land."
