First discovered: 9:17 a.m. Feb. 27 A new wildfire was reported today at 9:17 a.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. At this time, there is no data on the containment status of the fire and the cause has yet to be determined.

The Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District announced funding awardees Tuesday morning, with most being in communities that lack open space or parks – totaling 13 projects.

Los Angeles County is included in an updated wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 11:17 p.m. The advisory is valid for Thursday, Feb. 27 between 3 a.m. and noon.

Through voter-approved Measure A, Los Angeles County is now expanding its parkland and open space with $17 million in public grants.

The Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District announced 13 beneficiaries Tuesday of Measure A competitive grants totaling $17 million in funding toward increased access to green spaces across the greater Los Angeles area.

The round of funding from Measure A will add 623 acres of green space, marking LA County Regional Park and Open Space District’s largest parkland expansion.
