Artificial intelligence startup Perplexity AI has hit back at a lawsuit claiming that it's unfairly harvesting data from Dow Jones & Co and the New York Post to feed its AI engine, as well as stealing and mangling content.

In addition to accusing Perplexity of reproducing some content “verbatim,” News Corp also claims Perplexity can falsely attribute facts and analysis to the company’s outlets

The suit alleges that the AI search engine illegally used copyrighted material in its product. Dow Jones, the parent company to the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Post filed a lawsuit Monday against artificial intelligence company Perplexity, alleging that the company is illegally using copyrighted work.
