Top-seeded Qinwen Zheng of China claimed the Toray Pan Pacific Open title with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win over American wild card Sofia Kenin on Sunday.

Top-seeded Qinwen Zheng outlasted wild card Sofia Kenin 7-6 (5), 6-3 to win the final of the Pan Pacific Open on Sunday in Tokyo. Zheng, of China, fired 16 aces to dispatch Kenin in one hour, 52 minutes and claim her third WTA Tour singles title of the year and fifth of her career.

Although the top-seeded Chinese entered the final as the favorite, she missed out on two break points in the fifth and four another two games later. Ultimately, the 2020 Australian Open winner managed to force a tie-break and even be tied 5-5 there with the top seed.
